Private Study

Entry Level Students
I take great passion in teaching beginners and starting students on the right foot in their musical journey. I will instill the basics of posture, technique, and theory along with a fresh teaching curriculum to keep you engaged and excited about your study. I used a multipronged approach of working from instructional booklets as well as learning music that students enjoy. We will learn by ear as well as by sheet music and get you set up with the foundational elements you need to succeed and to continue your study!

Intermediate Level Students
Does your "time feel" need improving? Do you want to learn more about improvisation, accompanying yourself or a singer, or about modes? I have multiple practice rubrics that can help you set 6 week, 6 month, and year long goals to help you progress and establish consistency within your playing. I also integrate what I call "active listening" into our lessons, where we will break down a song and all of its elements into pieces and really get into the meat of the music.

Advanced Level Students
Feel like you've hit a wall in your piano journey? Well, I have the resources to push you in a new arena. Be it in depth score analysis, study of melodic minor modes, diminished scales, or developing your rhythmic independence, I have a multitude of areas to challenge you as a musician. Want to start exploring stride piano? Reharmonization? Classical music? I have a myriad of options for advanced students that can challenge you to expand your playing.

College Audition
Coaching
As an adolescent, I was deeply involved in high school and regional all-star bands, competitions, and conservatory auditions. In my own college application journey, I prepared audition repertoires for prestigious conservatories including Juilliard, Berklee, The New School, and Manhattan School of Music (MSM), and attended Grammy Camp.
Having an experienced mentor prepare you for these high-stakes auditions is invaluable. I know exactly what adjudicators and audition panels look for: precise tone production, stylistic interpretation, dynamic control, sight-reading agility, and stage presence.
As an active performing musician, I also offer accompaniment and high-level rhythm section coaching for recorded audition tapes so students sound polished and supported.
